Sony Music recording artist and 2024 Grammy-nominee, Ryan Ellis, took center stage at the annual Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Valor Awards on Monday, November 13, held at the iconic Los Angeles Dodgers stadium. Performing the national anthem, Ellis lent his soulful voice to the event, which recognized the outstanding contributions of LAFD members who earned the Medal of Merit, Letters of Special Commendation, and the LAFD Unit of the Year Award.

VALOR 2023 not only celebrated the bravery and dedication of the LAFD but also honored recipients of the Community Impact Award and Foundation of the Year honor. These accolades were presented to individuals and organizations that have steadfastly supported key programs and initiatives, significantly strengthening the Los Angeles community.

Ryan Ellis, recognized for creating worship music that seamlessly blends pop and R&B, showcased his versatility as an artist. Born into a generation with diverse musical influences, Ellis is committed to incorporating a wide range of sounds and textures into his art. Speaking about his musical approach, Ellis stated, “Just because it’s a pop song doesn’t mean it can’t have substance. Just because it’s a Christian song doesn’t mean it can’t get people on their feet. Being asked if I want to be a pop artist or worship artist is like asking me if I want to be Filipino or white. I’m both.”

Adding to his accomplishments, Ellis recently earned a 2024 Grammy nomination as a co-writer of Maverick City Music’s hit, “God Problems.” Looking ahead, he is set to dive back into the studio immediately after Thanksgiving to commence work on his full-length Provident/Sony album, slated for a mid-2024 release. As a dynamic artist with a unique fusion of genres, Ryan Ellis continues to make waves in both the music and worship scenes
