Nine-time GRAMMY Award nominee and renowned artist Natalie Grant has unveiled a soul-stirring gospel rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” featuring the exceptional talent of Tasha Cobbs Leonard.
Originally penned by Paul Simon and made famous by Simon & Garfunkel in 1970, this gospel-infused rendition of the classic serves as a call for unity during turbulent times. To capture the raw and heartfelt performance, Grant and Cobbs Leonard recorded the track live with a full backing band at Nashville’s Blackbird Studio, without any overdub or post-production tuning.
Natalie Grant expressed her admiration for Tasha Cobbs Leonard, saying, “Tasha Cobbs Leonard is one of the greatest voices of our generation. She has referred to me as a ‘bridge’ before, and I have always prayed that’s exactly what my artistry, and my life, would be. But she has also been building bridges across genres and styles. She’s a barrier breaker. I can’t think of a better person to sing this song with.”
This powerful rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is part of Natalie Grant’s forthcoming album, “Seasons,” set for release on October 6th. The album features Grant’s unique interpretations of songs that have left a profound impact on her life and career. Collaborating with some of the industry’s finest artists, “Seasons” includes tracks like “Step By Step” with Dolly Parton, “Shackles (Praise You)” with Mary Mary, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” with Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and “Make You Feel My Love” featuring Grant’s mother and daughters on Bob Dylan’s timeless song. The album’s first single, “You Will Be Found” with Cory Asbury, has already resonated with audiences globally, accumulating over 20 million on-demand streams and reaching No. 3 on the Mediabase Audience Chart, as well as the Top 20 on AC Radio.
Natalie Grant and her husband, GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter/producer Bernie Herms, will embark on their “An Evening with Natalie Grant featuring Bernie Herms” tour next month. Following this, Grant will join Danny Gokey for K-LOVE’s Celebrate Christmas Tour from November 30th to December 16th, spreading the joy of the holiday season through music.
