Inventive rock duo Adamic has just unveiled their self-titled album, “Adamic,” produced by none other than Andrew Stanton of Disciple fame. This 11-track project features a combination of brand new songs and updated versions of older pieces.
Guitarist Josiah Pletch expresses his excitement about the album, noting how working with Andrew Stanton has been a dream come true. Stanton’s production brought out the best in them, often offering creative suggestions when they faced obstacles. The drums were recorded at Off the Wall studio, with Lester Estelle (known for his work with Pillar and Kelly Clarkson) engineering the sessions.
Vocalist and drummer Ian Swaby adds that the collaboration with Stanton was seamless. They never clashed with him or debated on what each song should be, which allowed them to make unconventional choices and long songs. This creative freedom, according to Swaby, is what makes the record special.
The resulting songs on “Adamic” are both meaningful and complex. The opening track, “Solid As Solid Gets,” blends fresh rock-and-roll with grunge elements while exploring the concept of duality in mental health. Swaby delves into the idea of someone having two souls, reflecting his own experiences of feeling torn internally and the healing journey towards wholeness.
“Heather” showcases the musical chemistry between Ian and Josiah, who have been friends since the age of five. The alternative rock track features Ian’s smooth vocals and is his personal favorite from the band’s catalog. “All of A Sudden” delves into the theme of catalytic moments in life, framed by Josiah’s powerful riffs.
In addition to Ian Swaby, Josiah Pletch, and Andrew Stanton, the musical team behind Adamic includes mixing by Matt Arcaini and mastering by Sam Moses. The result is a reintroduction of Adamic to the world with a cohesive sound that firmly establishes their identity.
Ian Swaby hopes that listeners take away a feeling of hope from the record. Despite the challenges they’ve faced in the years leading up to this album, he wants people to find the light and experience a sense of courage to be unapologetically themselves. “Adamic” represents an uncompromising expression of their sound and ideas, setting it apart in the world of rock music.
