Songwriter, musician, and worship leader Deloin Scotton is rejoicing in the joy of redemption through his inspiring new composition, “Mercy Said No.” Released earlier this year, this powerful praise anthem has resonated deeply with music lovers across the country, showcasing the heartfelt melodies Scotton has crafted over the years.
Deloin Scotton’s musical journey began in his childhood, growing up in a loving home filled with music. “As the middle child of three siblings, we would often travel across the country with my father and mother,” Scotton recalls. “My father had his master’s degree in music, and so lyrics, notes, and melodies have always been an intrinsic part of my life.” His family’s harmonies became well-known as they accompanied their father, instilling in Scotton a deep appreciation for music from an early age.
Though he explored various instruments, including the piano, bass, drums, and trumpet, it was the piano that ultimately captured his focus. As Scotton’s faith in Jesus grew, so did his desire to create songs that reflect worship and adoration. “There has always been a melody in my heart and the desire to worship through song,” he shares. “I think I’ve finally found my gift… WRITING! The songs that I’ve been inspired to write are a culmination of what I have felt inside of me for so many years.”
“Mercy Said No” is already making waves on radio and social media, touching hearts and encouraging listeners to embrace the transformative power of grace. Scotton’s message is clear: “If God has given you something to say, say it. If He’s given you something to do, do it. If He’s given you something to write, WRITE IT!”
