Singer-songwriter Deloin Scotton is back with his latest heartfelt release, “Afterwhile,” a deeply personal track that draws from his lifelong connection to music and worship. As the middle child of three siblings, Scotton grew up in a musically gifted family, traveling across the country with his parents and absorbing the rich musical heritage instilled by his father, who held a Master’s Degree in music. Now, Scotton is embracing his calling as a writer and composer, sharing his gift with the world.
Reflecting on his journey, Deloin shares, “Growing up, I never knew what my gift truly was. As children, we were known for accompanying my father with our harmonies, singing as a family. Learning about music came naturally to me, but I never gravitated to just one instrument, though I was intrigued by many—piano, bass, drums, and trumpet. It wasn’t until later in life that I chose to focus on the piano.”
The new single “Afterwhile” captures Scotton’s deep desire to worship through music, expressing the melodies that have always resonated within him. The song serves as a culmination of years of inspiration, passion, and reflection, blending soulful melodies with heartfelt lyrics that invite listeners to share in his journey of praise and worship.
As he embraced his gift of writing, Scotton found that the words began to flow effortlessly, leading him to compose a collection of songs inspired by his faith and life experiences. “The songs I’ve been inspired to write are a culmination of what I have felt inside of me for so many years,” Scotton explains. “If God has given you something to say, say it. If He’s given you something to write, WRITE IT!”
“Afterwhile” is a powerful and soulful testament to Scotton’s love for music and his desire to connect with others through worship. His message is clear: we all have a purpose, and it’s through music and song that Scotton fulfills his own, inviting others to join him in seeking the presence of God
