Canadian worship project Informants has released “Doxology (Live),” the first single from its upcoming Hymns EP, a creative collection that reimagines timeless songs of worship through immersive soundscapes, personal storytelling, and a bold live performance approach.
Led by singer, songwriter, and producer Christian Victory, Informants brings a fresh perspective to traditional worship music by blending atmospheric production, cinematic textures, and deeply personal moments into a sound that feels both ancient and contemporary.
Rather than simply updating a classic hymn, “Doxology (Live)” creates a conversation between generations, connecting the history of a beloved worship song with the personal experiences that continue to shape faith today. The track was designed as a two-piece live performance, featuring Christian Victory triggering audio and visual samples through Ableton Push 3 alongside a dynamic drummer whose expressive playing moves beyond traditional worship rhythms.
The result is a layered and immersive experience that draws influence from the experimental and emotional worlds of artists such as Bon Iver and Fred Again.., while remaining deeply rooted in worship and spiritual reflection.
“I didn’t want to just modernize a hymn. I wanted it to feel like a conversation between generations,” says Christian Victory. “These songs have been sung in every kind of setting, by people in every kind of moment. I tried to step into that history and add my own.”
At the heart of “Doxology (Live)” is one of the most personal moments of Victory’s life: the first recorded singing of his daughter, Indie. Her voice is woven throughout the performance through live samples and visuals, transforming the song into a testimony of faith, gratitude, and answered prayer.
Christian and his wife Nicole spent 12 years together before hearing their daughter’s voice after experiencing a difficult journey with infertility and IVF. After doctors told them their embryos had failed, Indie’s development changed unexpectedly, becoming what they describe as a miracle.
“We went through IVF, and at the end of it, doctors told us all of our embryos had failed. But on Day 6, something happened. Indie grew three stages overnight. It felt like God had breathed life into our story,” Christian shares.
Inspired by Matthew 21:16, which speaks of praise coming from the mouths of children, Victory sees Indie’s voice in the song as a sacred reminder of God’s goodness.
“If worship is a response to God’s goodness, this is mine,” he says. “We’ve all got our own stories, and I hope this one helps people connect with theirs.”
