British singer-songwriter Solomon Machanick, the artist behind Songs of Solomon, has released his latest single, “Held By You,” a gentle acoustic worship song shaped by a lifetime of faith, memories, family and loss.
Written around a shared testimony with Meeting of the Mimes, “Held By You” looks back across different seasons of life, tracing the ways faith can remain a constant presence through change. From teenage campfires and early encounters with music to family life and moments of loss, the song reflects on the enduring sense of being held by God through it all.
The intimate acoustic arrangement gives the song room to breathe, allowing its reflective message and understated emotion to take center stage. Rather than presenting faith as something distant or abstract, “Held By You” approaches it through the ordinary experiences that shape a person’s story.
For Machanick, songwriting began at 14 when he discovered a guitar that had been sitting untouched in a closet for six months. Picking up the instrument eventually led him into music study, songwriting, performing, and touring with bands.
After spending years away from actively releasing music, Machanick returned to songwriting with a different perspective and a deeper collection of life experiences to draw from. His current approach is deliberately focused on releasing songs individually, collaborating with musicians and creative partners who bring their own character and interpretation to each recording.
“I write across country, folk, pop, rock and contemporary Christian music, following each song where it needs to go,” Machanick explains.
That openness to different genres is reflected throughout the Songs of Solomon project, which brings together contemporary Christian worship, heartfelt pop and reflective folk. At the center of the music is Machanick’s honest vocal delivery, giving his songs a quiet strength and personal quality.
Based in Southampton, UK, Machanick has steadily built an international audience through Songs of Solomon. His music has surpassed three million Spotify streams, while the project has attracted more than 70,000 monthly listeners worldwide. His songs have also appeared on international playlists and radio programs, extending his reach beyond the UK.
“Held By You” continues that journey with a song rooted in remembrance and gratitude. Its story moves through the different chapters of a life while returning to one central idea: through seasons of joy, uncertainty and loss, God’s presence remains.
For Songs of Solomon, the release represents another chapter in Machanick’s return to music and his ongoing exploration of faith through songwriting. “Held By You” offers a reflective worship experience for listeners who have experienced change and discovered that some things remain constant.
