Tasha Layton makes a resounding return with her deeply personal single, “Lay It Down,” a soul-infused pop ballad echoing the comforting promise of Jesus: “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30). This heartfelt release celebrates the liberation from fear, anxiety, and turmoil, reflecting Layton’s own journey of deliverance from depression and despair.

“Lay It Down” is not just a song; it’s an anthem of surrender and trust. Co-written by Layton, Jess Cates, Kalley Heiligenthal, and produced by GRAMMY and Dove Award-winner Keith Everette Smith, the track strikes a chord with its soulful melodies and powerful message.
Inspired by her personal experiences, Layton’s lyrics embody the essence of total surrender and trust in a higher power. She sings, “You say Your yoke is easy / You say Your burden’s light / You take a soul that’s weary / Give comfort every time / And when my heart is heavy / I know without a doubt / There’s nothing you won’t carry / Oh, Lord, I lay it down.”
Reflecting on the theme of laying down burdens, Layton shares, “There’s a lot we’re called to lay down in Scripture: our burdens, our pride, our crowns, even laying down to rest; laying down is a theme in the Bible. When we lay down what we’re carrying, our hands are open. And when our hands are free of the things that burden us and weigh us down, we are set apart from the worry and fear that plagues the culture. We’re free to take the hand of another or offer help to those around us—to walk in freedom!”
She emphasizes that laying down doesn’t always change circumstances, but it signifies trust in God. Through this trust, God offers peace, hope, and strength to navigate life’s challenges, allowing individuals to live from a place of rest instead of constant striving.
Tasha Layton is set to share “Lay It Down” and her rapidly ascending Christian radio single, “Never,” with audiences across the country.
