Now holding the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week on both the Billboard Christian AC and Mediabase Christian AC charts, and crossing 1 million weekly global streams, “Desperate” is a heartfelt anthem of surrender and hope. Jamie MacDonald wrote the song while healing from the loss of her father, a former professional boxer, after five years spent as his caregiver. Born from lived experience, the track channels the raw, unfiltered emotions of that season.
“The reason why I can sing this song is because I felt that way for five years straight,” shares MacDonald. “‘Desperate’ has become my anthem when I haven’t had the words to pray.”
Following her 2024 debut single “A Million Chances,” MacDonald has quickly emerged as one of the most talked-about new voices in Christian music. She recently earned a Breakout Artist of the Year nomination at CMB’s Momentum 2025, and continues to build a growing fanbase drawn to her message of faith, resilience, and honest storytelling.
With these nominations in tow and her chart-topping single continuing to resonate, Jamie MacDonald is stepping into a breakthrough season — and she’s only just getting started.
