Platinum recording artist, GRAMMY-award-winning songwriter, producer, and worship leader Brooke Ligertwood has unveiled her highly anticipated single “Fear of God” as a preview of her upcoming sophomore solo album, “EIGHT.”
The captivating single, now available for streaming, comes with an accompanying music video premiering at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT. The song serves as the lead track on her 11-track studio project, set to be released globally on October 20.
Ligertwood, known for her poignant songwriting and powerful vocals, expresses her deep connection to “Fear of God”: “I’ve gotten to write so many songs in my life. Maybe a thousand by now? Not sure. Whatever it is, it’s more than I’ve deserved to. I like most of them, wince at a whole lotta them (taste changes and skill grows but the Internet is forever, God help me), and deeply love a good many of them actually. But there’s a small few that I feel an otherness about. This is one of those. I feel like ‘Fear of God’ is one of the songs I was born to leave here, and that’s just that.”
This release follows Ligertwood’s debut solo album “SEVEN (Live),” which gained significant recognition with over 146 million global streams since its release in 2022. Her lead single from the album, “A Thousand Hallelujahs,” has garnered more than 25 million global streams, reaching No. 2 on Multitrack’s Top Songs chart, and charting on several international Top 50 viral charts, including No. 16 in the U.S. The success of her follow-up single, “Honey In The Rock,” has been even more substantial, accumulating over 94 million global streams.
With a discography that includes beloved church anthems like “What A Beautiful Name,” “King of Kings,” and “Hosanna,” as well as devotional favorites like “Awake My Soul,” “New Wine,” and “None But Jesus,” Ligertwood’s impact on the worship landscape is undeniable. With over 7 billion career streams and 20 million career album sales, her music has been streamed globally more than 1.5 billion times and translated into over 15 languages. Ligertwood’s songs have reached the top of the CCLI chart with two No. 1’s and several Top 25 placements.
