Belmont University’s Fisher Center was the venue for Porter’s Call’s “Evening of Stories” fundraiser on August 29th. In its 14th year, this annual event brought communities together through storytelling and music.
The evening featured anecdotes from Al Andrews, the Founder and Executive Director of Porter’s Call, along with contributions from best-selling author, inspirational speaker, professor, and principal tubist Dr. Richard Antoine White. Additionally, singer-songwriters Drew Holcomb, Lucie Silvas, Brandon Heath, and Paramore provided special musical performances. The event concluded with a surprise presentation of the Inaugural Founder’s Award, bestowed upon Al Andrews.
Words of appreciation and recognition for Andrews’ 22+ years of tireless work were shared by Porters and Co-Directors Beth Barcus and Chad Karger, along with Porter’s Call Board Chair Matt Signore. Porter’s Call, established in 2001, caters to the unique needs of the artist community, offering a confidential and nurturing environment for individuals to express themselves, seek truth, and find respite.
The Inaugural Founder’s Award was created to acknowledge individuals who exemplify the spirit of Porter’s Call and contribute significantly to the music industry. Al Andrews was chosen as the deserving recipient, celebrated for his unwavering dedication and compassion.
This award serves as a tribute to the core values that define Porter’s Call, celebrating those who, like Al Andrews, share in the organization’s mission to support and guide artists and their communities with a shared passion for music
