Three-time GRAMMY® winner and Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade Tasha Cobbs Leonard is returning to the live setting that helped define her career with the announcement of her new album, TASHA UNSCRIPTED, arriving September 11 via Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian Music Group.

Recorded before a live audience in Atlanta earlier this year, TASHA UNSCRIPTED captures Cobbs Leonard in an environment where worship, musicianship and spontaneity come together in real time. The project is available for pre-order now, with its arrival marking a new chapter following her critically acclaimed 2025 studio album, TASHA.

Alongside the album announcement, Cobbs Leonard has released “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live)”, featuring Israel Houghton, together with an official live video. The performance connects two powerful worship songs, moving from surrender toward freedom while highlighting the chemistry between two celebrated voices in gospel and worship music.

Rather than simply recreating familiar material, TASHA UNSCRIPTED allows Cobbs Leonard’s catalog to evolve through new arrangements, live instrumentation and the unpredictable energy of a worship gathering. The recording preserves the audience response and spontaneous moments that emerged throughout the evening, resulting in a project that feels less like a traditional live album and more like an invitation into the room.

The Atlanta recording brought together several notable guests, including Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, William Murphy and Israel Houghton, alongside Cobbs Leonard. The combination of established favorites, new music and unexpected collaborations gives the album a broad musical and spiritual scope.

“After stepping into a quieter, more intimate creative space with TASHA, I felt called back to the room, to the kind of night where you cannot predict what God will do next,” Cobbs Leonard says. “TASHA Unscripted captures what happened when we made space for the songs to breathe and for people to respond in real time.”

“There was so much freedom in that room,” she adds, “and I’m excited for everyone to finally experience it, both on the album and on tour.”

The forthcoming project follows TASHA, Cobbs Leonard’s first studio album after more than a decade of landmark live releases. The 2025 project debuted at No. 1 on multiple Billboard Gospel charts and expanded her sound across gospel, R&B, hip-hop, pop and roots influences.

The album also produced the Billboard Gospel Airplay No. 1 single “Church,” featuring John Legend. Cobbs Leonard and Legend later performed the GRAMMY-nominated collaboration on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, while Cobbs Leonard also delivered a performance during the GRAMMY Premiere Ceremony.

The momentum continues into 2026, with Cobbs Leonard receiving the Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards on August 15 in Charlotte. She also enters the ceremony with six Stellar Award nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year.

Her recent recognition also includes three 2026 GMA Dove Award nominations, two 2026 GRAMMY nominations for TASHA and “Church,” three BET Award nominations and her first NAACP Image Award win for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album.

Cobbs Leonard will take the new project on the road this fall with the TASHA UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR, an intimate live experience inspired by the Atlanta recording. The tour will draw from her celebrated catalog while introducing new music and personal storytelling, with room for spontaneous moments shaped by each audience.

Select dates will also feature Club 360 wellness experiences, reflecting Cobbs Leonard’s broader commitment to spiritual and physical well-being. Additional cities and dates are expected to be announced.

With TASHA UNSCRIPTED, Tasha Cobbs Leonard returns to the live environment that has long been central to her artistry, but this time with an intentional embrace of the unexpected. Instead of attempting to recreate one particular night, the project preserves the freedom, emotion and worship that unfolded in Atlanta and invites listeners to experience it for themselves.

TASHA UNSCRIPTED arrives September 11 via Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian Music Group. The album is available for pre-order now, while “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live)” is available on streaming platforms.
