Cory Asbury makes a powerful return to worship music with his new single “Outsing The Angels,” available now on all streaming platforms as the title track from his forthcoming album set for release on September 18.
The new release marks a significant personal and creative turning point for Asbury, who reflects on a period of more than five years spent stepping away from church life and worship ministry. During that time, he describes experiencing disconnection, spiritual exhaustion, and a search for meaning outside of his calling.
Best known for the multi-platinum worship anthem “Reckless Love,” Asbury shares that his return to music and ministry was shaped by a season of personal reflection and renewal, including encouragement from fellow artist Forrest Frank, which helped guide him back toward faith and worship.
Now re-centred, “Outsing The Angels” introduces a renewed creative direction rooted in raw, unrestrained worship. The track is positioned as a bold declaration of wholehearted praise, inspired by the idea of worship that is unfiltered, passionate, and fully surrendered.
“‘Outsing the Angels’ is a call to outlandish, unruly worship,” Asbury explains. “It’s the childlike, almost foolish notion that we, mere mortals, could somehow contend with the very beings created for the sole purpose of worship. Honestly, it’s preposterous. But it’s a reminder that we were once young and wild and full of life and passion before the mundaneness of everyday life dulled our love for Him.”
The single also sets the tone for Asbury’s upcoming album cycle, while he prepares to join Forrest Frank on a nationwide tour alongside special guest Tori Kelly, marking a new chapter in his live ministry and performance journey.
