Two Louisiana powerhouses, Lauren Daigle and Trombone Shorty, took center stage at Super Bowl LIX, delivering a stirring rendition of “America the Beautiful” during the pre-game ceremony.
Lauren Daigle, the multiple GRAMMY, American Music, and Billboard Music Award winner, showcased her signature powerhouse vocals, while Trombone Shorty—the legendary New Orleans musician known for blending funk, soul, R&B, and rock—brought his signature brass magic to the performance.
A true icon of New Orleans music, Trombone Shorty (born Troy Andrews) has been making waves in the industry since childhood. At just four years old, he performed at Jazz Fest alongside Bo Diddley, and by six, he was leading his own brass band. Over the years, he has released five acclaimed albums, toured with Lenny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters, headlined major festivals worldwide, and performed at the GRAMMYs four times and the White House six times. In his hometown, he closes Jazz Fest’s legendary final set and even leads his own Mardi Gras parade, riding atop a float in his likeness.
Joining him on stage, Lauren Daigle has made history in the Christian and mainstream music worlds. Her 2018 album “Look Up Child” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, making her the first female artist to reach the Top 10 on both the Pop and Christian Album charts simultaneously. The album’s breakout hit, “You Say,” has since been certified six-times Platinum. Daigle’s recently released self-titled album produced her sixth No. 1 song, “Thank God I Do,” pushing her worldwide streaming numbers past 1 billion.
