The Riga Cathedral Choir School Gospel Choir has once again proven its musical excellence with the release of their latest song, “Worth.” Composed by the school’s alumnus Patrick Tabaks, this deeply moving gospel piece has already gained international recognition, securing a spot as a finalist in the Gospel Music category of the 2024 USA Songwriting Competition—one of the largest independent music competitions in the world.

With 46,828 entries in this year’s competition, the fact that “Worth” reached the finalist list is a testament to the choir’s outstanding artistry and the powerful composition crafted by Tabaks. The USA Songwriting Competition is judged by industry professionals from major global labels like Universal, Warner, and Sony, further underscoring the song’s exceptional quality.

Patrick Tabaks, a talented singer-songwriter and composer, has been making waves in the Latvian music scene since the release of his debut album “Lost My Mind” in 2021. His diverse career spans solo projects, film soundtracks, and musical theater, with notable roles in Latvian productions such as Kaupens and Sfinksa. His deep-rooted passion for music began in childhood, leading him to sing at the Latvian National Opera at just 11 years old, where he quickly became known as “the boy with the golden voice.”

For Patrick, composing “Worth” was a full-circle moment—a tribute to the Riga Cathedral Choir School Gospel Choir, where he first developed his musical identity. “Being surrounded by talented individuals naturally inspires song ideas tailored to specific artists,” he reflects.

Founded in 2018 by Una Stade, the Riga Cathedral Choir School Gospel Choir has established itself as a powerhouse of Latvian choral excellence, blending Latvian and international music with gospel influences. The choir has worked with celebrated Latvian musicians like Janis Sipkevics, Marta Grigale, and Triana Park and has earned prestigious accolades, including victories at Riga Sings (2022) and Lauluragin in Estonia (2023).
