Rock band Rusty Shipp are turning up the attitude in their new official music video for “Tough Guys,” giving fans a playful look at a tougher, louder version of the group just in time for Halloween weekend.
The video finds the band embracing their alter egos and making the most of the season when dressing up and stepping into a different personality is all part of the fun. Filmed around downtown Franklin, Tennessee, it follows Rusty Shipp as they strut through the streets with exaggerated confidence, determined to show everyone who runs the town.
With tongue firmly in cheek, the group take aim at the traditional image of rock-star toughness. Names such as AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe are brought into the conversation, but Rusty Shipp are clearly convinced that their own brand of swagger takes things to another level.
The video even includes a playful reference to TobyMac, who previously filmed a music video in downtown Franklin. Rusty Shipp use the comparison to deliver their own humorous declaration of superiority, making the whole performance feel like an entertaining challenge to anyone who considers themselves cool.
That sense of humour carries into the song itself. “Tough Guys” presents a group of characters who are unapologetically rude, confident, and ready to do whatever they please. Its lyrics lean into the exaggerated bravado, with the band promising to take people by surprise and demanding that everyone else gets out of their way.
Rather than taking the tough-guy persona too seriously, Rusty Shipp turns it into a theatrical performance, allowing the video to play with familiar rock clichés while giving fans something entertaining to watch.
With “Tough Guys,” Rusty Shipp show that sometimes the best way to embrace a larger-than-life rock attitude is to have a little fun with it. The new video brings that spirit to life, capturing the band enjoying their Halloween alter egos and making downtown Franklin their own stage.
