Lloyd Nicks is bringing fresh energy to a beloved Christmas hymn with his new release, “Glory (Angels We Have Heard).” Reworking the traditional arrangement of “Angels We Have Heard On High,” the singer delivers a powerful worship anthem driven by a full choir, sweeping strings and pounding drums.
The revamped version builds into a grand celebration of praise, inviting listeners to reflect on the wonder of Christ’s birth and the significance of the manger. Its combination of familiar Christmas melodies and a more dramatic contemporary sound gives the classic a renewed sense of scale while keeping its message of worship at the centre.
Nicks co-wrote the track with Tony Wood and Micah Kuiper, who also took charge of production. The release arrives as a fitting close to a landmark year for the artist, who has spent 2026 establishing himself as a recording artist and introducing audiences to different sides of his musical identity.
His journey began gaining momentum with “Heal For You,” a debut ballad that generated more than 60 million impressions across his social media platforms. The song also earned a nomination for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year ahead of the 57th annual GMA Dove Awards, giving Nicks an early milestone in his recording career.
Throughout the year, he took his original music to the stages of Tin Pan South and South by Southwest (SXSW), while continuing to build his catalogue with a series of releases. These included his first radio single, “A Little More,” alongside “We Won’t,” “Paper-Maché” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Heaven.”
Earlier this month, Nicks also released “Common Ground,” a collaborative record featuring fellow label artists Blanca and Harper Grace, as well as chart-topping Christian group Cochren & Co. The song supports his Common Ground Initiative, a platform created to support creatives in his hometown of St. Louis.
Beyond his work as a recording artist, Nicks has already built an impressive songwriting résumé. A GRAMMY winner and three-time GMA Dove Award nominee, he co-wrote CeCe Winans’ “That’s My King,” which spent 49 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart. He signed a recording deal with Curb in 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in a career that has already seen success behind the scenes.
With his full-length debut album, Paper-Maché, scheduled for release on March 19, 2027, Nicks is preparing to take that next step. The introductory project is already available for pre-add, pre-save and pre-order.
For now, “Glory (Angels We Have Heard)” offers a seasonal reminder of the message at the heart of Christmas. By giving a familiar hymn a bold new arrangement, Lloyd Nicks brings his own artistic perspective to a timeless song of praise while closing out a significant year of growth and new beginnings.
