Westwell returns with a powerful new single titled “Fear,” a deeply reflective release that blurs the line between song and prayer. Written in response to a world that feels increasingly uncertain, “Fear” is not about conquering anxiety, but about acknowledging it as an essential part of being human — and learning how to carry it with courage, compassion, and responsibility.
At its core, “Fear” wrestles with the weight of the present moment and the hope of becoming the person history, family, and future generations need. Rather than offering easy answers, the song embraces vulnerability, recognising fear as something that can shape strength, integrity, and moral clarity. It’s a meditation on parenthood, humanity, and the quiet determination to do what is right — for our children, for one another, and for whatever lies ahead.
“There’s hope that when tomorrow comes, I’ll have been the man I should have been,” the band shares. That sentiment sits at the heart of the track, giving “Fear” its emotional gravity and universal resonance.
In a rare and meaningful gesture, Westwell has chosen not to profit from the song. Any proceeds generated from “Fear” will be donated to War Child and UNICEF, reinforcing the song’s message of care, responsibility, and global solidarity.
Westwell is a band rooted in both family and shared purpose. Formed by father-and-son duo James and Gus Corsellis, alongside producer and multi-instrumentalist Jamie Biles, the group creates music from their countryside studio in Oxfordshire. Their sound blends indie and folk-rock with rich melodic textures and thoughtful songwriting, drawing inspiration from artists such as The National, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and Jason Isbell, while echoing the emotional precision of poets like W.H. Auden, Raymond Carver, and Mary Oliver.
Since releasing their first track in late 2023, Westwell has steadily gained attention for their craftsmanship and atmospheric sound, earning early support from BBC Introducing and building a quietly assured presence. With “Fear,” they continue to carve a path defined by honesty, restraint, and emotional depth.
As new music approaches, Westwell remains committed to creating songs that feel lived-in and sincere — music that doesn’t shout, but stays with you long after the final note fades.
