Christian music artist Lauren Talley is following the recent release of her Walls (Part One) EP with a vibrant new take on ‘Testimony’, bringing her own vocal character and personal faith journey to the powerful song originally recorded by Terrian.
Produced by Jason Webb, Talley’s version draws from contemporary African-American Christian music while adding elements that reflect her own Southern Gospel background. Acoustic textures and rich harmonies give the recording a warm, soulful quality, allowing the song’s message of grace and redemption to come through with plenty of feeling.
For Talley, however, ‘Testimony’ is more than another song in her catalogue. Its message closely reflects her own experience of faith and the ways she believes God has worked through different chapters of her life.
Talley says she became a Christian at just eight years old and, by age 12, felt called to serve God. She acknowledges that her journey has not always been perfect or predictable, but says her faith has remained grounded in God’s goodness and faithfulness.
That personal connection comes through in her delivery. Talley’s interpretation presents the song as an affirmation from someone looking back at the obstacles, unexpected turns and difficult moments that could have changed the course of her story, yet finding reasons to remain hopeful because of her faith.
The recording also benefits from the vocal contributions of Webb and Talley’s longtime friend and collaborator Amber Eppinette Saunders, known for her work with 11th Hour and as Amber Lynn. Their harmonies add another layer to the performance and help give the song its communal, uplifting quality.
The release arrives as Talley’s previous project continues to make its own impact. The title track of her mid-August EP, Walls (Part One), is currently climbing the charts, but the singer is already moving forward with new music through ‘Testimony’.
Talley’s musical journey stretches back to childhood. Born into a family with a strong musical heritage, she first stepped onto the stage at only two years old during one of her family’s concerts, beginning a career that would eventually see her become a recognised voice in Southern Gospel.
She later became a prominent member of The Talleys, recording lead vocals on 11 No. 1 songs with the group. The family act also earned numerous honours, including a 2015 Dove Award for ‘Hidden Heroes’.
Alongside her work with the group, Talley has released seven solo albums. Her 2019 projects Glorious God: Songs of Worship and Wonder and Loudest Praise: Hymns Of Mercy, Love and Grace were released simultaneously, while her 2017 album The Gospel reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Southern Gospel chart.
Her work has also extended beyond recording. Talley is the author of Songs In The Night, a devotional connected to her 2010 album of the same name, and regularly performs solo concerts while appearing as a singer and speaker at women’s conferences and other events.
She has also become familiar to audiences through Gaither Homecoming concerts and videos, RFD-TV’s The Music City Show and In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley. In 2014, she received an honorary doctorate in Worship Arts from John Wesley University.
Away from her own releases, Talley works as a studio background vocalist and producer and also helps emerging artists develop their voices and stage performances.
With ‘Testimony’, Talley brings that extensive experience together with a message that remains deeply personal. The song celebrates the idea that a person’s difficult chapters do not have to define their entire story when faith, grace and God’s faithfulness remain at the centre.
For Talley, the message is simple but powerful: a life changed by faith can itself become evidence of what God can do. ‘Testimony’ gives her another opportunity to turn that belief into music and share it with listeners.
